Newspaper and magazine wholesaler Menzies Distribution has acquired Orbital Marketing Services Group in a move that gives the business new bases in the west and south west of England.
The £12.6 million deal means Menzies Distribution now has the widest geographical network in its 189-year history, and will see the company expand its business into new sectors and add further complementary services to its existing logistics and marketing services capabilities.
Orbital Marketing Services Group was set up in 1972 as BP Travel Trade Services and in addition to its core travel brochure business, it now distributes leaflets and provides print, mailing and fulfilment services to a variety of sectors including public, private, education, healthcare and charity.
Menzies Distribution’s Managing Director David McIntosh said: “As a business we are always keen to maximise the full potential of our team and assets, strengthen our core offer and take advantages of opportunities.
“Our acquisition of Orbital Marketing Services meets all of these targets and we are confident that the combination of our skills and experience and the mix of markets and locations in which both companies operate, will create significant opportunities for growth.”
He added: “We would like to extend a warm welcome to Managing Director Paul Markland and his team and we look forward to working with all of Orbital’s customers.”
Orbital Marketing Services Group has bases in: Ashford, Kent; Birkenhead, Merseyside; Birmingham, West Midlands; Chesterfield, Derbyshire; High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire; Ilminster, Somerset; Rushden, Northamptonshire; Sittingbourne, Kent; Wymondham, Norfolk.
