Menzies Distribution Solutions wins major contract extension with Saica Group

Menzies Distribution Solutions has secured a three-year extension to its existing distribution contract with Saica Group, one of Europe’s largest recycled paper producers, managing transport activity at Carrington, its largest UK facility.

The new work builds on an existing 12-year partnership which has also covered the company’s Hartlepool and Thrapston sites. Menzies will manage the inbound collection of reels, as well as collecting waste products and delivering cardboard packaging to the largely regional customer base. The extended UK contract involves a mix of core fleet based at Carrington and Menzies’ wider network fleet to cover around 450 loads per week.

Saica Group develops and produces more than 3 million tonnes of recycled paper for corrugated board annually. It operates in a fast-moving industry that demands speed and agility. Menzies’ unique ability to move quickly and efficiently during critical periods of high demand, coupled with value added services that extend into exploring improvements, efficiencies and processes such as health and safety, position it well to partner with the paper and packaging sectors.

Commenting on the renewal, Mark Davies, Business Unit Director at Menzies Distribution Solutions, said:

“We are delighted to have secured this very significant extension which further demonstrates our excellent credentials in the paper and packaging industry. Our approach to partnership, best-in-class service, competitive pricing and a proven commitment to continuous improvement all demonstrate the value of the collaboration that exists between our two businesses. We continue to grow the scale of our operations in the packaging sector, investing in a reputation that has been built on delivering a high quality, flexible and innovative service proposition”.

Sergio Moreno, Supply Chain Mills & Logistics Services Director at Saica Group, added:

“Menzies understand our business, they have evolved and helped support our growth. The team understands the many complexities of the packaging sector, and has been able to demonstrate a flexible and agile solution that can respond to meet changes in demand, whilst being able to consistently provide a great service which is so important to our customers”.
