Thank you to the Menzies Distribution team for supporting local communities and the NHS throughout the Covid-19 pandemic

Throughout these unprecedented and challenging times, the Menzies Distribution team has come together to continue exceptional service delivery as well as support local communities and the NHS. There have been several projects during the nationwide lockdown that have been vital to maintaining healthcare supplies and essential services, as well as boosting morale. These include providing essential PPE to the NHS frontline, making deliveries to support field hospitals and delivering care packages and gifts to NHS staff, patients, homeless charities and more.

Equipment to the NHS frontline: Menzies Distribution, expanded its healthcare logistics service, with teams now serving the NHS, GPs and care homes across Scotland, as part of the national effort to maintain key supplies. In just one week in April, Menzies distributed what equated to 14,272 individually sorted & labelled parcels containing essential medical equipment (4.5 million items in total of aprons, masks, frames and lenses) to 947 GP locations across Scotland, followed by a further 5.4 million items to all care homes across Scotland.

 

Easter Goodies to NHS staff: Menzies Distribution & Flying Tiger joined forces to deliver ‘Easter Goodies’, a gesture of support to NHS staff in five London Hospitals as well as St Peter’s Hospital, Guildford and Ashford Hospital, Middlesex. In Swindon, WHSmith donated three pallets of Easter eggs for the NHS staff at the Great Western Hospital, which Menzies Distribution also delivered.

 

Magazines for NHS staff and patients: EM News staff in Belfast delivered magazines to Antrim Hospital who were providing care boxes to NHS staff who were in isolation. Working in partnership with Marketforce, Menzies Distribution delivered 450 magazines and puzzle books to University College Hospital in London for COVID-19 patients.

 

NHS Nightingale and NHS Louisa Jordan: Menzies Distribution delivered supplies for the setup of the NHS Louisa Jordan field hospital and newspapers and magazines for a new, pop-up Tesco store at NHS Nightingale.

 

Supporting Executive Lounges for the NHS: Assisting Gold Key Media (GKM) with ‘Project Wingman,’ a project created by furloughed, redundant and grounded aircrew across every UK airline, helping to establish an ‘executive lounge’ in hospitals for NHS staff to enjoy some downtime on breaks, prior to and after their shift. Menzies Distribution helped by delivering parcels of newspapers, donated by publishers including; Guardian, Reach, News UK, iNewspaper and the Financial Times.

 

Daily Mail PPE delivery: The Mail had sourced circa £1 million of PPE which Menzies Distribution delivered to a selection of hospitals and care homes across the Midlands and London.
