Menzies teams with Morph in mobility campaign

Menzies Distribution is delighted to have supported as logistics partner for Morph’s Epic Art Adventure, a nine-week summer campaign across London hosted by Whizz Kidz, the UK’s leading charity for young wheelchair users.

56 super-size sculptures of much-loved animated clay TV character Morph, individually reimagined and decorated, are now installed across the City of London and London South Bank, forming the first ever step-free access art trail and free tourist attraction in London, with famous backdrops and iconic landmark buildings. The high-profile event is expected to attract an audience of over one million visitors. The sculptures, for which more than 200 design submissions were received from a diverse range of artists before shortlisting for selection by sponsors, will be auctioned on 12 September to raise additional funds for Whizz Kidz.

Menzies collected and delivered undecorated Morphs from London and Chester to artists across the country with a white glove operation. All decorated Morphs were then collected and returned to Menzies’ South East London depot before their final delivery to the Whizz Kidz headquarters ready for installation.

As part of the initiative, Menzies has its very own Morph –Tartan Trailblazer. Designed by Scottish artist Alison Black in collaboration with Whizz Kidz Board member, Caitlyn Fulton, the Menzies Tartan Trailblazer Morph is installed outside St Paul’s Cathedral and clothed using adaptive fashion to demonstrate the importance of accommodating the needs of disabled people.

Commenting on the collaboration, Pamela Abbott, Chief Legal Officer and Menzies CSR committee Chairperson said:

“We are very proud to be supporting this wonderful initiative to raise awareness of limited access for young people with restricted mobility and the importance of basic personal mobility and its role in participating in society.”

David Holyoak, Corporate Sponsorship Manager of Whizz Kidz added:

“We’re thrilled to have Menzies on board as our logistics partner for Morph’s Epic Art Adventure. Coordinating the safe movement of these exciting sculptures across the country has been critical to the success of this unique cultural event. The company has been hugely helpful getting us in good shape to raise the profile of our mission and raise much needed funds.”

Morph’s Epic Art Adventure in London is step-free and runs for nine-weeks from 19 June to 20 August 2023. For more information, including links to download Trail Map and the Official App go to www.morphsadventurelondon.com #morphsadventurelondon

About Whizz Kidz

As the UK’s leading charity for young wheelchair users, we empower young people by providing the wheelchairs, equipment, support and confidence-building experiences they need, and campaigning for a more inclusive society. Our vision is a society in which every young wheelchair user is mobile, enabled and included.

About young wheelchair users in the UK

  • An estimated 75,000 young people in the UK need a wheelchair to be mobile.
  • Most young people aren’t getting a wheelchair that fully meets their needs through local services
  • For a young person, having the wrong wheelchair can lead to dependence on others, social isolation, poor mental health, pain and injury.
  • Without the ability to be independent young wheelchair users are restricted in their ability to socialise and participate in society.
