Menzies introduces charity partners for 2022

Menzies Distribution is committed to delivering support and driving positive change for its employees, workplace and community. As a responsible business, we take account of our social, economic and environmental impact, putting people and our planet at the heart of everything we do. Our approach also informs the charities we seek to partner with. Each year we ask our people to nominate charities for our collective support. This year we again received many worthy nominations, all of which were carefully assessed by our CSR Committee.

We are delighted to announce that our five new charity partners for 2022 are:

The Jo Cox Foundation

The foundation works to build a positive legacy from the tragic murder of Jo Cox MP, by partnering with visionary individuals and organisations who share their commitment to the fairer, kinder world that Jo dedicated her life to building.

Prostate Cancer UK

129 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each day and 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with the disease in their lifetime. Prostate Cancer UK works to improve the care and welfare of those affected by the disease. It invests in research to find better treatments and testing to support early diagnosis, as well as raising awareness of the disease amongst men and the wider public.

Blue Sky Autism

Blue Sky autism provides individualised programmes of therapy for young children aged from 6 months old who are experiencing developmental delays, including autism. Research suggests early intervention should start as soon as possible and that, even before a formal diagnosis has been made, children can benefit from targeted, play based intervention to develop engagement, interaction, language and communication.

It is run by sufferers of sleep apnoea, users of CPAP & non-invasive ventilators as well as sleep professionals – all of whom are passionate and committed to helping people get the safe and restful sleep they deserve and need.

NewstrAid

The NewstrAid Benevolent Fund was founded in 1839 to help people who are, or have been, employed in the selling and distribution of newspapers and magazines and who find themselves in hardship. This includes immediate family and dependants who are in need or distress. As well as financial help, NewstrAid provides emotional and wellbeing support along with advice and signposting to other organisations.

We are grateful to everyone who took the time to share their stories and nominations to allow us to arrive at these very worthwhile causes.

To kickstart our 2022 fundraising, the Menzies CSR Committee is being joined by volunteers from across the business to walk or run over 1500 miles, zig-zagging across our UK network from Edinburgh to London. As the team undertakes its journey via many of our depots, it is asking staff, family and friends to sponsor, share and join the march as it raises awareness and donations for this year’s charity partners.
