During the height of the pandemic, we supported our NHS delivering 10million items (45,000 individual boxes) of critical PPE, consisting of; aprons, gloves and masks to 2000 GPs and care homes across Scotland, stretching from the Borders up to the Highlands & Islands.
Menzies Distribution utilised its fast and far-reaching network to get the supplies to the front line where they are urgently needed. This care home specific PPE allocation process is similar to that of the GP allocation we carried out only weeks ago, which saw Menzies Distribution take 14,272 parcels containing 4.5 million items of PPE to 931 GP surgeries in Scotland.
We are immensely proud our organisation has been able to play an ongoing role in supporting the NHS and all carers and key workers. 10million items and counting.
Menzies Distribution received the call for assistance at 2pm on Friday (27th Mar), and with a huge network wide effort over the weekend to get the stock collected, sorted, labelled, trunked and distributed, we were able to commence deliveries to GP surgeries on Monday (30th Mar) from 9am.
As of 2pm on Thursday (2nd Apr) we were sat at over 96% of deliveries completed.
We have received positive feedback from the NHS as a job well done and they have acknowledged that we have implemented processes, procedures and new ways of working, that did not exist on Friday afternoon, to get the job done.
