Menzies wins major extension with vehicle glass giant Belron

Menzies Distribution has secured a multi-year extension to its existing distribution contract with Belron UK Ltd. Belron® is the world’s leading vehicle glass repair, replacement and recalibration group and supplies replacement vehicle windscreens across the UK and Ireland under the Autoglass® and Laddaw® brands, with a reputation built on rapid response.

The exclusive partnership between Menzies and Belron began in 2018 and has previously been extended before the recent renewal, which was awarded at the end of a competitive tender process. As part of the new contract, Menzies will deliver replacement automotive glass and associated materials to Belron’s UK network of Autoglass® and Laddaw® branches. The nightly delivery service helps to ensure that replacement glass is available for Belron’s network of technicians, before they arrive at work, to fit to customer vehicles. Menzies also collects waste glass which is returned to the Belron National Distribution Centre at Bardon, Leicestershire, before being recycled, which helps to reduce the customer’s environmental impact.

Menzies presently delivers more than 100,000 replacement screens for Belron to 33 locations across the UK and Republic of Ireland every month. Screens arrive before 7am, five days a week. The average on-time in full (OTIF) delivery rate is 99.8 per cent, with a ‘zero-defect’ start after working closely with our partner to specify appropriate vehicles and establish a new driver team. Menzies has based a dedicated planning team at the Bardon site – one of Europe’s largest glass distribution centres – where it sits on Belron UK’s Health & Safety committee, participating in site audits and sharing results. It has also introduced a system to track equipment throughout the supply chain to provide enhanced management information, helping to reduce losses and ensure that the right equipment is available when required at the centre.

Under the new extension, Menzies will replace the current fleet, including truck mounted Moffett forklifts, and will work with Belron to drive further Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Commenting on the extension, Andy Coxon, Business Development Director at Menzies, said:

“We are delighted that Belron has extended our existing 4 year relationship, and we look forward to continuing to support its UK operations. We have delivered a consistent level of service and look forward to introducing many new initiatives to further demonstrate the value of the partnership that exists between our two businesses”

John Cooper, Head of Supply Chain at Belron®, added:

“Menzies have been a strong partner for Belron, they understand our business and we look forward to continuing our successful relationship.”
