Menzies Distribution supports local based charities with Christmas tree collection service

Last year, Menzies Distribution joined forces with the Pilgrims Hospice in Kent to support their Tree recycling scheme. Volunteers from Menzies Distribution took part in the collection and recycling of 200 Christmas trees, which helped raise in excess of £21,000 for the Hospice.

This year, Menzies wanted to help again but on a much larger scale and using more of our national network. Our CSR team reached out to our depots to explore any local charities that are running a similar scheme and if we can support. As a result, we discovered five charities across four locations that were delighted to let us help with the Christmas tree collections with our volunteers and vans.

From our Coventry, Belfast, Chester and Preston sites, Menzies have been able to support the following charities in their fundraising;

Pass the Smile for Ben

This is special named fund on behalf of the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group, the experts in childhood cancer, that are committed to shaping a future where all children survive and live happy, healthy, independent lives. ‘Pass the Smile for Ben’ is set up for the raising of funds for research into rhabdomyosarcoma and supportive care

The exact sum raised isn’t yet known, but at the last count the donations were well over £11,000. The day was met with high spirts from all the volunteers but also a sense of caution, as all volunteers adhered to social distancing and safety guidelines whilst carrying out the collections.

Menzies Distribution is delighted to be able to help local based charities in the communities where we live in work.
