Menzies Distribution joins Pilgrims Hospice Tree Recycling scheme to raise £21,000 in one day

Menzies Distribution is proud to announce that it helped to raise over £21,000 for Pilgrims Hospice in Kent through the collection of Christmas trees from homes and companies in the Ashford area.

Willing volunteers from Menzies Distribution took part in the Pilgrims Hospice Tree Recycling Scheme. Menzies Distribution deployed four vans and completed seven trips, collecting and recycling 200 Christmas trees which contributed to a total of 1,350 trees collected on the day, through the scheme.

In total 29 vans took part in the scheme across a number of routes through Ashford District Council utilising many kind volunteers. This was the 8th year of the scheme and it saw the highest take up to date.

People were asked to register their trees for collection in exchange for a donation. The results speak for themselves and the donations have generated an additional 1000 hours of nursing care for those suffering with cancer.

The hospice is an important charity to Menzies Distribution in Kent as several employees and their family have used the services of the hospice. Menzies Distribution is proud to have taken part in supporting the local hospice and giving back to the local community.

Speaking to Menzies Distribution, Louise Newman, Ashford Community Fundraising Manager said, “Thank you for helping to make Tree Recycling such an amazing success on Saturday, we collected 1,350 trees. We’re chuffed to bits with our record-breaking registrations and funds raised, plus an increase in the average donation given, but this simply wouldn’t have been possible without all your support, so we’re really grateful.”
