Ellis Watson
Managing Director
Ellis has been MD of Menzies Distribution for two years. For the proceeding three years, he was MD of Mirror Group Newspapers where he sat on the Trinity Mirror’s Operating Board. He arrived there having spent three years working internationally as the CEO of Celador, where he took the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire TV format and brand extensions to over 100 countries. For the previous 10 years he worked at News International.
Tom Boyle
Wholesale Director
Tom has board responsibility for Menzies Distribution’s operational performance. In addition, he leads the Newspaper, Business Development, Property, Health and Safety and Facilities teams. He represents the company’s interests as a board member of the two joint ventures with Easons in Ireland and is a member of the ANMW’s policy committee. Tom started his career with the company as a management trainee in 1974 and has worked in a number of locations throughout the UK, before being appointed to the board in 1996.
David McIntosh
Commercial & Marketing Director
David is responsible for commercial contractual arrangements, key retail relationships, magazine publishers, regulatory/OFT matters and business information provision. David joined Menzies Distribution in 1999 as Finance Director, previously being John Menzies plc Group Financial Controller. He joined John Menzies plc in 1989, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Touche Ross.
David Speirs
IT Director
David joined Menzies Distribution in May 2006 as Information Technology Director from The Scotsman Publications Limited where he was Executive Director for Information Technology and Production for five years. Previously, David has worked for a variety of major multi-national organisations including Murray International Holdings, Seagram Spirits and Wine Group Price Waterhouse, Babcock Thorn and Christian Salvesen.
David Morton
Strategic Development Director
David is responsible for innovation, implementation and evolution of logistics technologies and processes, and other developments of strategic added value to the business, clients and customers. He joined Menzies, in 1992 from ICI. A St Andrews mathematics graduate, Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and Board member of Skills For Logistics, he is involved in various distribution sector initiatives.
George Kirkwood
Finance Director
George is a graduate of Edinburgh University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG before joining the Group Finance department of John Menzies plc in 1983. He subsequently moved to Menzies Distribution where he held a number of positions, including Financial Controller and Company Secretary, before being appointed Finance Director in 2003.
